Last week I talked about how I FINALLY succumbed to the Fall décor bandwagon, and showed how I decorated our Modern Farmhouse front porch. This week let’s step inside the house to see my simple little touches I scattered around.

Simple Fall Touches
As I mentioned before in last week’s blog, the front porch is the first thing guests see when they come to your home, so that’s the first place to start with your fall decor. The next area will be your entry way, or foyer. Here at our Modern Farmhouse, it’s an open concept area, but I’ve “separated” the entry from the living by adding a nice drop leaf table behind the couch. This was my mother’s dining table that we kept after she downsized to the little apartment behind our garage, and she didn’t have any space for it. It makes the perfect “sofa table”, don’t you think?! Here is where I added a little fall floral arrangement that will carry me through Thanksgiving. I just LOVE cattails!
Across from this table against my absolute favorite wall in the house (my Hubby helped me do this DIY project with all the trim pieces) stands my Huntboard that a dear friend made me years ago. I just love this piece. Along with the staple decor that I never change, the dog painting and a flower painting that was my grandmothers, I’ve added a little cream and gold pumpkin in a glass dish, a raffia pumpkin and those cute little fall wreaths on each drawer knob. I think it just adds a nice touch. Underneath this piece I just threw in some faux pumpkins into the basket that is alwasys sitting there. Just a few little things that say FALL without going all out.
On the dining table, where I always keep this metal tray and my old enameled coffee pot, I added another raffia pumpkin and a little metal tub full of silk fall flowers. This is another way to add some simple touches, that don’t cost alot of money, but says FALL. Bonus is I found all these flowers and pumpkins in my stash of extras in the basement! Gotta love shopping within your own home, right?!!
On the wall behind the dining table I have a hanging galvanized metal vase, which is perfect for switching out the seasons floral arrangements. So of course, I threw in some of those extra flowers I had!
Another area I added some left over flowers was on the mantle next to the TV. I found a tall glass vase in my basement (yay!!) and added some glass beads in the bottom to hold the stems. I think it came together pretty well, and again, just a subtle touch.
I may add more little touches in the next few weeks, especially if I find more goodies in my stash. But for now, I think it says Welcome Fall. And that was my goal! You don’t have to break the bank, or go all out on fall decor, just scatter some simple items here and there. Be sure to sign up for my emails so you can follow along with my journey.
