CHRISTMAS FRONT PORCH
I had so much fun decorating the Modern Farmhouse vacation rental we own for Christmas. I really want our guests to enjoy the holiday season while they are here visiting the area.
So what better way to say WELCOME, than to decorate the front porch! I think it just says “Come on in, we’re glad you’re here for the Christmas season!”
But, as with all things I do….I like to see just how much I can possible do on a very limited budget! You don’t need to spend a lot of money to make your porch look inviting.
I added these cute little faux evergreen wreaths to each of the front windows. I found these CHEAP at our local Goodwill store. If you haven’t been to second hand stores for décor, you really are missing out.
To hang the wreaths, since the top part of these windows don’t slide down, I used my favorite vinyl clips to slip in above the window to hold the red velvet ribbon. You can find these clips here. If you have vinyl siding, you are gonna love these things!
To make the wreaths show up from the road better, I added the pop of red outside “velvet” bows I found at JoAnn’s on sale for 50% off! What a deal. And they’re easy to attach with the little twisty ties included. I also stuck in the ground something I’ve had for years….this cute little metal snowmen. They were originally a rusty color, but my husband powder coated them for me in a nice white, so they’ll last for years!
To the left side of the porch I draped over a very inexpensive micro fleece blanket I found on sale at our local Kroger store. With the rewards card, it was only $3.99! Can’t beat that….especially if you want to leave something outside for visual interest!
I made this cute little JOY sign, you can find directions in my previous post. I added the cute little metal star with those vinyl clips! The front door wreath is the same one I’ve had all year, I just added a cute buffalo plaid bow!.
On the right side of the porch, I placed my little “Baby it’s cold outside” wooden sign I made last year (similar to the way I did the JOY sign), some cute little glitter bells for the rocker , a Jingle Bell wreath, again with those awesome vinyl siding clips & finished the side off with an old little tree!
I bought this cute little tree for when our son moved away to college. When he graduated and moved to Mobile, AL last year, he left the tree behind! So I added some more buffalo plaid bows and finished the look!
This area is very windy, so to secure the little tree, I stuck it in this old wicker drawer basket that I had (the storage unit it belonged to has long been gone!) & secured the tree with zip ties to the sides of the basket. Makes it very stable now!
So that’s it! A quick, cheap and easy way to add some curb appeal and welcome guests to your house! It’s so pretty at night with the Icicle lights on and the little tree all lit up!
