How to find the BEST Airbnb for Vacation
Have you ever thought about renting a house for vacation instead of staying in a hotel? Have you wondered how do you find the best place to rent, what to look for, what to ask? Have you even heard of Airbnb before seeing this blog? Well I’m here to answer these questions and possibly even more you might have! Welcome to the world of Airbnb!
First, let’s decide where you are wanting to go on vacation. Is this a family vacation, or just you and your spouse? Or is it for a group of friends wanting to spend time hanging out together? Once you decide WHERE you are going and who with, then head to the Airbnb site. Click on your date of travel first, as there’s no sense looking through hundreds of possibilities if the dates aren’t open. Next, select Guests. Be sure to select the age section. Houses aren’t rented PER person. This info is very important for a host, so they know exactly how many guests are coming and what age group, to properly prepare for. For instance, if we have guests traveling with infants, I offer to have a Pack N Play and high chair available.
Now you’ll decide what type of property you’re looking for. Click on Homes. This will open up another page. This is where you can filter things like an Entire home (because some people like to rent just a room within someone’s home). You can also filter in a price range. The Instant Book is a feature I like. We offer that on our own properties. This means you don’t have to request a booking with the owner, you can just simply select the home you like and book it!
Select more filters next. And turn on the Superhost button. We never book a vacation unless it’s a Superhost. It’s not easy attaining a Superhost status. We work hard to reach and maintain this badge! It means your host does the very best they can to have a Clean, well appointed home and are there for you!
Now that you’ve selected all the filters, it’s time to start scrolling through the homes. This is a virtual look into what they are offering. (The above photos are from our newest Airbnb home, our Modern Farmhouse). I always look for multiple pictures, not just a handful. I want to see what the beds look like, the kitchen, the bathrooms, what the living room furniture looks like (does it look comfy), what the outside looks like, is there ample area to relax with family or friends? If you’ve selected Superhost, then you know they have a 5 star rating from guests. Note that ONLY guests who have stayed in the home is allowed to offer a review after their stay. But start looking through these reviews as it will give you a great insight into the host as well.
You can also view the listing by the map if you want to see in general where the property is located. However, no property will give you the exact address. This is a safe guard put into place by Airbnb to protect the hosts. If you’d like more info about this property before you hit BOOK, then feel free to contact the host. We are always happy to answer questions up front (except what our street address is!). As an Airbnb host, we want our guest to be the right fit with our property. Ours are rural, so if the potential guest is looking for city sidewalks, etc, then they won’t be happy with our places. So be sure to READ the entire listing, find out what they provide, what they don’t, what the cleaning fee is, any security deposit and ask any questions before you book…..cause with Airbnb, even if the host has a free cancellation policy, Airbnb still collects their fees
