There’s just something about crisp white sheets that shouts CLEAN! But, keeping them white isn’t as easy as you think.

Start with the Sheets
First, let’s start with your sheets. I prefer a soft, not stiff sheet. Ones that are stain resistant helps and don’t wrinkle a lot. I also don’t like sheets that make me feel hot!
I lean towards microfiber sheets for the softness. Although I like the feel of cotton sheets in the summer, I hate the wrinkle factor. I found these sheets on Amazon which have been performing very well. They are thinner than most microfiber sheets, so they don’t seem so hot at night.
The Washing Factor
Always check the washing instructions for your sheets. I made the mistake once, where I never even gave it a thought that you couldn’t wash sheets in a warm, regular cycle. They came out with picks and pulls everywhere. They were supposed to be washed COLD on Delicate cycle! Lesson learned.
But how do you sanitize sheets without using bleach? It may not be THAT important to you for your own sheets, unless someone has been sick. With a vacation rental home however, we need to be sure that the sheets are not only sparkling white, but also sanitized. And since most sheets nowadays say not to use bleach, what do you do?
LAUNDRY SANITIZER
Welcome to Lysol Laundry Sanitizer. This stuff is amazing! You add it to your wash in the fabric softener compartment. The scent is so fresh and clean smelling too. We use it with every load and our guests are always remarking how clean our sheets smell. Walmart has the best price on this product (& no, I don’t get compensated for saying that!)
STAIN REMOVER
But what happens when you get stains on these nice white sheets when you can’t use bleach, according to washing label? Well, two things I have found that work wonders on almost all stains we’ve come across.
First line of defense: Oxi Clean Laundry Stain Remover Spray. We spray the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes.

OxiClean White Revive
Second line of defence: The sheet goes into the laundry sink filled with cold water and Oxi Clean White Revive powder mixed in. The combination of these two products will amaze you. I let the sheets soak for at least 6 hours or overnight. Then, I just add to the washing machine, with detergent and the Lysol Sanitizer. They come out CLEAN!
So, I hope this helps you with your white sheets (or T-shirts, anything white!) Just don’t try this with anything NOT WHITE! That was another lesson learned! LOL
