Well, we’ve had a hard Fall. We lost our beloved Zoe, the Great Pyrenese we’ve had since 2011.

The Love of a Dog

Zoe, our Great Pyrenese
She was originally our Alpaca Guardian but became our beloved pet within days! As a farm guardian, she was the BEST! As our pet, even better. And after she passed (she was very old for her breed, as we got her as an adult dog), we had said NO MORE dogs for now. It’s just so hard to lose a beloved fur family member. BUT, I honestly couldn’t stand being without a companion. I missed the morning hugs, the playfulness throwing balls….the walks to the barn. I missed Zoe.
TIME FOR A NEW PUPPY
So while on vacation to California with my hubby, with the time difference waking up early in the morning OUR time and it being still at night there, I did what any creative person would do….I got on Instagram. And I kept seeing these cute posts for Goldendoodles.
Goldendoodles

My friend’s doodle Charlie!
Oh my goodness! I first saw in person a Goldendoodle back in the early 2000’s. I was working on a Faux job out of town for a client and the neighbor just got this “new” hybrid breed! I love all things standard poodle and the mix with the retriever into this adorable living teddy bear was just too hard not to go and see! Ever since then, I kept this “breed” in the back of my mind and said “one day”.
Well…..NOW is the DAY! Yes…I actually talked my husband into getting one while on vacation. He missed our Zoe too and even though he kept saying we don’t need another dog right now….I just felt so lonely without one.
As luck would have it, 2 friends gave me the same name of the breeder locally. So we set up a meeting to go see her newest litter of puppies! Turns out….this gal was a childhood friend of my husband! It was meant to be!! I reserved a puppy!!!

Goldendoodle puppies!
I mean, who could resist these adorable little faces! But the best part was, my hubby got to see full grown Doodles up close and personal. He as well was smitten with these adorable funny dogs. Such personalities!
waiting for puppy
Next came the hard part….waiting two weeks to pick our little boy up! AND what to name him! I came up with 10 boy names to choose from. Hubby didn’t want a fufu name…he wanted a BOY DOG name! Picking that name was so hard! So we decided to wait until we actually picked him up. Let his personality guide us!
AND THE NAME IS:

Meet Baxter!
So, I know you’re waiting to hear what we picked!! We decided on Baxter!!!
I’ll keep you posted from time to time on how this cute little fur baby has changed our life….and how fast he will be growing…so be sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebook, as I’ll post photos every week.
